Animal Spirit Knowledge Cards

$9.95

To the ancients, all things in nature had sacred or spiritual meaning. The world was inhabited by the higher beings, who took the form of fantastical creatures that were part animal, part human, and exceedingly powerful. These beings are the spirit guides who lead the departed to the next life, heal the sick, and restore balance and harmony to a troubled world. The tribal healers knew the animal sprits well. They journeyed beyond the threshold of ordinary reality to invoke the power of these great beings.

The 48 paintings by Susan Seddon Boulet (American, b. Brazil, 1941-1997) reproduced in this deck resonate with an ethereal energy and speak in the language of the soul. Each image is accompanied by a brief description of the animal's power and symbolism in various cultures. Size: 3/4 x 4 inches.

Discovering Eris The Symbolism and Significance of a New Planetary Archetype

product image
$29.95

In astrology, each planet in our solar system is symbolically associated with specific archetypes, characteristics, themes and patterns in human experience. The discovery in 2005 of Eris -- a dwarf planet beyond Pluto -- was therefore an event of great significance for astrology as well as astronomy. In this unique book, Keiron Le Grice considers the astrological significance of Eris. How, he asks, can we determine Eris's meaning? What archetypal themes is it associated with? In what ways might the myths of Eris, the Greek goddess of strife, be relevant to the astrological meaning? What can Eris's discovery tell us about the evolutionary challenges we now face? Drawing on a wide variety of perspectives -- including mythology, ecology, religion, history, philosophy and Jungian psychology -- Le Grice carefully constructs a multi-faceted picture of Eris's possible meaning, helping to illuminate the unprecedented events of our time and providing clues to our possible future directions.

ARCHETYPAL COSMOS REDISCOVERING THE GODS IN MYTH SCIENCE ASTROLOGY

product image
$35.00

The modern world is passing through a time of critical change on many levels: cultural, political, ecological and spiritual. We are witnessing the decline and dissolution of the old order, the tumult and uncertainty of a new birth. Against this background, there is an urgent need for a coherent framework of meaning to lead us beyond the growing fragmentation of culture, belief and personal identity. Keiron Le Grice argues that the developing insights of a new cosmology could provide this framework, helping us to discover an underlying order shaping our life experiences. In a compelling synthesis of the ideas of seminal thinkers from depth psychology and the new paradigm sciences, Le Grice positions the new discipline of archetypal astrology at the center of an emerging world view that reunifies psyche and cosmos, spirituality and science, mythology and metaphysics, and enables us to see mythic gods, heroes and themes in a fresh light. He draws especially on the work of C. G. Jung, Joseph Campbell, Richard Tarnas, Fritjof Capra, David Bohm and Brian Swimme. Heralding a 'rediscovery of the gods' and the passage into a new spiritual era, The Archetypal Cosmos presents a new understanding of the role of myth and archetypal principles in our lives, one that could give a cosmic perspective and deeper meaning to our personal experiences.

Songlines of the Soul: Pathways to a New Vision for a New Century

"If you are like me, this book will feel like an invitation to live in a much larger, more interesting world. It will serve as a key to open the handcuffs that have kept your spirit in check for too long. It will help you make sense of things you were taught earlier in your life, understood then only naively. It may inspire you to hope for a strong dream, an overwhelming coincidence, or a UFO encounter. It will certainly free you from the particular depression that comes from a habit of modern skepticism." -Thomas Moore from the Foreword

As we stand at a crucial turning point in our human history, this book offers hope and a call to awaken and expand our perceptions of the fundamental principles that orchestrate reality.

Archai The Journal of Archetypal Cosmology: The Birth of a New Discipline Issue 1

$24.95

This volume, the premier issue of the Archai journal, lays foundations for the academic discipline of archetypal cosmology, which has emerged from the confluence of a number of different fields: depth psychology, archetypal astrology, history, philosophy, cosmology, religious studies, comparative mythology, cultural studies, the arts, and the new-paradigm sciences. With contributions from Richard Tarnas, Stanislav Grof, Keiron Le Grice, and Rod O'Neal, this book provides an introduction to the theoretical basis of archetypal cosmology and its applications to cultural history, biography, and the arts. The articles address topics such as the historical context of archetypal cosmology, the nature and meaning of the planetary archetypes, their connections to the psychodynamics of the unconscious, and the new method of historical analysis called archetypal historiography. Also included, as examples of this kind of analysis, are a case study of the Puritan movement, an analysis of Bruce Springsteen's song lyrics, and an exploration of the Saturn-Neptune complex through the study of the lives and works of major cultural figures, including Blake, Coleridge, Freud, Wilde, Bergman, and Woolf.

Cultural Crisis and Transformation: Exploring Archetypal Patterns in World News and Culture

$24.95

How can we better understand the significance and implications of the ecological, economic, and cultural crises we now face? What are the deeper forces at work shaping the contemporary zeitgeist and connecting the major events of our time? Is it possible to place our moment in history in the context of great cyclical and diachronic patterns of change? Responses to these and other related questions are explored in this second issue of Archai: The Journal of Archetypal Cosmology. The nine essays featured here use archetypal astrology to shine a light on the deeper dynamics of history and contemporary culture. Contributions include cultural historian Richard Tarnas's analysis of the major world transits of the last five years, focusing especially on the Saturn-Uranus-Pluto T-square, and the second part of his exploration of the Saturn-Neptune complex. Also included are the second parts of Rod O'Neal's in-depth analysis of the Puritan movement and Keiron Le Grice's exploration of archetypal themes in the music of Bruce Springsteen. The other articles cover a wide variety of topics relevant to an archetypal understanding of contemporary culture such as the global financial crisis, the Israel-Palestine conflict, the gay rights movement, the history of rock and roll, and recent achievements in the sporting world.

$47.95

All human relationships are containers of emotional life, but what are the structures underlying them? Nathan Schwartz-Salant looks at all kinds of relationships through an analyst's eye. By analogy with the ancient system of alchemy he shows how states of mind that can undermine our relationships - in marriage, in creative work, in the workplace - can become transformative when brought to consciousness. It is only by learning how to access the interactive field of our relationships that we can enter this transformative process and explore its mysterious potential for self-realization.

The Black Sun: The Alchemy and Art of Darkness

$24.95

Also available in an open-access, full-text edition at http: //oaktrust.library.tamu.edu/handle/1969.1/86080 The black sun, an ages-old image of the darkness in individual lives and in life itself, has not been treated hospitably in the modern world. Modern psychology has seen darkness primarily as a negative force, something to move through and beyond, but it actually has an intrinsic importance to the human psyche. In this book, Jungian analyst Stanton Marlan reexamines the paradoxical image of the black sun and the meaning of darkness in Western culture.

In the image of the black sun, Marlan finds the hint of a darkness that shines. He draws upon his clinical experiences--and on a wide range of literature and art, including Goethe's Faust, Dante's Inferno, the black art of Rothko and Reinhardt--to explore the influence of light and shadow on the fundamental structures of modern thought as well as the contemporary practice of analysis. He shows that the black sun accompanies not only the most negative of psychic experiences but also the most sublime, resonating with the mystical experience of negative theology, the Kabbalah, the Buddhist notions of the void, and the black light of the Sufi Mystics.

An important contribution to the understanding of alchemical psychology, this book draws on a postmodern sensibility to develop an original understanding of the black sun. It offers insight into modernity, the act of imagination, and the work of analysis in understanding depression, trauma, and transformation of the soul. Marlan's original reflections help us to explore the unknown darkness conventionally called the Self.

Alchemical Active Imagination

$24.95

Although alchemy is popularly regarded as the science that sought to transmute base physical matter, many of the medieval alchemists were more interested in developing a discipline that would lead to the psychological and spiritual transformation of the individual. C. G. Jung discovered in his study of alchemical texts a symbolic and imaginal language that expressed many of his own insights into psychological processes. In this book, Marie-Louise von Franz examines a text by the sixteenth-century alchemist and physician Gerhard Dorn in order to show the relationship of alchemy to the concepts and techniques of analytical psychology. In particular, she shows that the alchemists practiced a kind of meditation similar to Jung's technique of active imagination, which enables one to dialogue with the unconscious archetypal elements in the psyche. Originally delivered as a series of lectures at the C. G. Jung Institute in Zurich, the book opens therapeutic insights into the relations among spirit, soul, and body in the practice of active imagination.

Alignments: How to Live in Harmony with the Universe

$15.00

This book is based upon the premise that our life has meaning and that we are privy to know what our specific purpose is for being here. In a psychological setting, astrological ideas and theory are translated into practical therapy with tangible results. No longer is the "patient" gloomily working out his or her issues. Instead, there is a focus, a direction to the therapy process that guides a person towards his or her specific calling in life. This book presents a new, radical, readable, and inspiring method for aligning one's personality with one's calling.

The authors, a psychotherapist and an astrologer, both seasoned in their crafts, have designed a book which develops practical methods of discovering an individual's calling in life; whether his or her life enables the reader to evaluate if their lives are on track or off track with this particular calling; describes an original and succinct theory with practical examples; presents a new look at relationships--based on calling--which deepens the partnership of marriage, friendship, and parenting; sees calamities, dreams, and synchronicities as wake-up calls to finding one's calling; and deals with these serious subjects in a humorous and lighthearted way.
